On a warm summers day in 2013, I photographed the wedding of Carol and Craig at The Heronston Hotel, in Bridgend. Bridgend hosts many great wedding venues, all of which are superb, but the Heronston is one of the best in South Wales. On offer nearby are the fantastic views, beaches, cliffs and walks that make the area special and a treat to visit at any time of the year.

Carol and Craig chose to make their preparations at home, before heading over to the main hall in the Heronston for a civil wedding ceremony. After the ceremony we gathered the wedding guests outside for some formal group shots. As soon as the group photographs were done and dusted, the wedding guests had some drinks at the bar until it was time for the wedding breakfast. Myself and the bride and groom took the opportunity to go for a small stroll around the grounds, which provided the perfect backdrop for the lovely couple and their formal shots.

Southerndown is nearby, along with nearby Ogmore, is a west-facing beach (and hence on the Atlantic coast), and off-shore winds from the East generate good-quality surf, helped by the warming effects of the Gulf Stream. There are actually two beaches separated by a headland and on the headland are the remains of Dunraven castle. These beaches provide great opportunity for wedding photography.

Finally, the guest returned for a wedding Breakfast inside the hotel before partying long into the night. A great day was had by all!

As a Bridgend Wedding Photographer, it is great to have the scope to move around Wales shooting different locations and meeting the lovely people I encounter on their big day! Craig and Carol were great on their day, and made the day a smooth one by just being themselves – happy, relaxed and in love! Contact me to find out more, and have a look at the gallery to see what I can do for you.
