Back in May I had the opportunity to be part of Lucy and Luke’s wedding day. I started with Lucy as she made her preparations in the Copthorne Hotel, in Cardiff. The rooms that Lucy was using were spacious and bright, which was great for me as her photographer. Lucy was really relaxed and had all of her fabulous bridesmaids around her as they sipped champagne and got ready for the big day. The sun was out, and everyone looked great. From there, I traveled the short distance to Pencoed House, just outside Cardiff, where the ceremony and reception were to take place. I have worked with Pencoed House before, and they are always a pleasure to work with. The venue is beautiful, really picturesque and the staff are great.
Luke was already at Pencoed House when I arrived, and I took the opportunity to get some candid shots of the guests arriving and mingling before the ceremony. The room was set up beautifully for the wedding. Lucy arrived a little while later, just as the rain started to fall. It didn’t dampen spirits though, and everyone was excited. Lucy walked up the isle, Luke looked pleased as punch, and the ceremony itself was absolutely gorgeous (barring a minor, but very amusing slip up with names!). After the ceremony, we did the formal shots, even though it was drizzling a little. The dark skies really added mood and feeling to the images though, and the formal results were great. From there, the wonderful bride and groom and I went for a stroll around the grounds of Pencoed House to get some more images.
The day was lovely, with so much potential for great candid photographs. The wedding breakfast was served next, and then the speeches were given. The speeches were brilliant, very heartfelt and funny. And Lucy’s bridesmaids performed an amazing alternative rendition of the Fresh Princes Bel Air theme tune.
The day was one of the loveliest I have been part of, and Lucy and Luke were a treat to work with.
