In mid September I photographed the fabulous wedding day of Sarah and Rhyd. The day started at Rhyds parents house, where the early morning sun was shining, setting the scene for the day ahead. We took some shots in the lovely garden, and then I made my way to the bride to capture some preparation shots. Bride, mum of the bride and bridesmaids all looked amazing and the atmosphere was really relaxed and everyone was excited.
From the brides house, I took the short drive through Porthcawl to Newton Church. When I arrived, Rhyd was greeting his guests with happy smiles and there was an air of expectation as 2pm drew closer. The church is a lovely wedding venue with a traditional feel and striking architecture, and provided a wonderful backdrop. Sarah arrived at the church looking spectacular and once she had walked the aisle, the ceremony commenced. It was sweet and heartfelt, and the love that Sarah and Rhyd have for one another shone from them. After the ceremony, we did the formal shots outside the front of the church. From there, the bride, groom, bridesmaids and I took a spin down to Newton Beach to capture some gorgeous images on the sand. We also used Porthcawl Pier as a backdrop on the way to the Atlantic Hotel. The light that we had on the day was amazing. When I was taking images in front of the pier, there was some fabulous reflected light bouncing off the lifeguard station, shining on and illuminating the bride and groom.
After that we started making our way to the reception venue, but along the way we were presented yet again with some great light, so we used it for some more bride and groom shots.
Once we arrived at the Atlantic Hotel, drinks were served, the wedding breakfast was served and then the speeches were delivered. After the speeches, the sun went down and I whisked the bride and groom outside for some silhouette shots.
The day was superb. The wedding party danced, ate, drank and were merry. Congrats to Sarah and Rhyd – you are both wonderful. You can see ALL the photography (over 550 images, including all the formal/couple shots) from the wedding day HERE, and you can also purchase prints via this link.

Thanks Pete for being a superb photographer. We didn’t notice you were there, which we hear in photography terms is a good thing!! All our love. Xx
